Abstract: Based on the concept of essence safety in coal mine, the problem of coal seam (group) safety upward mining is put forward. The composition about technological system of safety upward mining is analyzed in detail. At the same time, their basic viewpoints are summarized, the technical system includes mechanism and condition of upward mining, analysis and assessment scale of risk factors in upward mining, production system planning. On this basis, the guiding role of key strata theory of ground control on coal seam (group) safety upward mining is analyzed. The problem is summarized which needs further study in coal seam (group) safety upward mining.
